PlayStation Plus Extra Reportedly Gets Silent Hill 2 Remake Later This Month - IGN Image

Last year's celebrated Silent Hill 2 Remake will join the PlayStation Plus Extra catalogue later this month, it's been reported.

Via Dealabs, reliable tipster Billbil-kun has stated that the Silent Hill 2 Remake will become available via PlayStation Plus Extra on October 21.

The game would be an extra treat — well timed for the spooky season — on top of the three monthly games currently on offer to all PlayStation Plus subscribers: Alan Wake 2, Goat Simulator 3 and Cocoon.

Silent Hill 2 Official Accolades Trailer

Silent Hill 2 Remake's apparent arrival on PlayStation Plus Extra would come just after the game's first anniversary (it launched for PC and PS5 in October 2024), and amid a swirl of rumors surrounding new content for the game, including its unannounced but fan-anticipated Born from a Wish DLC.

Indeed, survival horror leaker Dusk Golem has suggested Silent Hill 2 Remake will soon be updated with PS5 Pro support at the same time as the DLC's launch — which also now sounds like it could potentially be timed alongside its PlayStation Plus arrival.

For the uninitiated, Born from a Wish is a side-story added to the original Silent Hill 2 which stars Maria as its playable character. Eagle-eyed fans have spotted hints to the story's content within the base game, though publisher Konami has so far kept schtum on the DLC actually existing.

To date, Silent Hill 2 Remake remains a PlayStation console exclusive. So far, there's been no word of when it might launch on other platforms, such as Xbox Series X/S or even Nintendo Switch 2. Here's hoping we hear more soon.

IGN's Silent Hill 2 Remake review returned an 8/10 score, and dubbed it "a welcome modernisation of a survival horror masterpiece. It smoothly polishes down the rough edges of the original game’s combat while taking a piece of heavy grit sandpaper to scuff up every rust and mold-covered surface of its nightmarish environments, successfully making them appear far more abrasive and menacing to explore."
