The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Controller Gets a Price Cut on Amazon - IGN Image

It's been a year since the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, but there's still a limited number of themed Switch 2 Pro controllers available. In fact, there's only really been one, and it was for Resident Evil Requiem for some reason. If you're in the market for a Switch 2 controller with an actual Nintendo theme right now, you'll need to look at third-party options.

One such manufacturer that actually made IGN's list of the best Switch 2 controllers is PowerA. The company makes both wired and wireless options with officially-licensed themes from some of the best Nintendo franchise. And, as of this week, the Tears of the Kingdom controller has dropped to a new low price on Amazon.

The PowerA Advantage is currently IGN's top pick as "best budget controller" for the Switch 2. This assessment is primarily based on our hands-on experience with the wired version of the controller, which comes in at about half the price as the wireless option. In our review, our tester called it "a decent bet for anyone looking to avoid the high price point of Nintendo’s first-party offering, boasting most of the best features found in the flagship controller while trading out some of its more costly bells and whistles."

While it's certainly not able to replicate the more premium Switch 2 Pro controller that Nintendo sells directly, it does offer Hall Effect Modules, mappable buttons, and a C Button that lets you activate GameChat features. It also offers the one thing Nintendo hasn't yet, a Legend of Zelda design. This controller has a Decayed Master Sword symbol straight out of Tears of the Kingdom smack dab in the middle of the design alongside gold buttons and tunic-green joysticks. If you're a fan of Legend of Zelda games, it's a solid wireless option.

Is this a good deal right now?

This is the lowest price we've seen for this controller on Amazon, but it's not likely to be the lowest price we'll ever see. Amazon Prime Day is coming up at the end of June and we're likely to see at least some sort of discount on third-party Switch 2 controllers then. With that in mind, there's no guarantee that this particular controller will be discounted further. Nintendo announced a Switch 2 Price increase for September 2026 and the existing first-party Switch 2 accessories already had an increase at launch. With the gaming industry following a trend of price hikes this year, any price reduction is usually worth considering.
