Sony is officially upping the price of a PS5 for the second time in under a year. The tech giant recently announced a sweeping price increase across the US, UK, Europe, and Japan.
If you've recently been thinking about picking the console up, strangely enough, now might actually be the best time to pull the trigger. At least, it's the only way to avoid these sudden price changes.
Here's the rub: the price hikes won't come into effect until April 2, 2026. That means today, April 1 (and that's not an April Fools), is your last chance to save up to $200 on a PS5 console.
To help, we've gathered up all the major retailers that currently have PlayStation hardware in stock at MSRP, including the PS5 Pro, disc and digital editions, PlayStation Portal, and even handy refurbished options for a tidy saving there as well.
Save $150 on PS5 Pro
The PS5 Pro is your best option get the best performance out of new games like Crimson Desert, Resident Evil Requiem, and the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 later this year. But you wouldn't catch me recommending this bad boy for 900 big ones.
$749 is expensive enough as it is, up from its original $699 MSRP. That means the console is set to be $200 up on its launch price in 2024. Yeesh! If you've had your eye on the upgrade and don't mind dropping a lot of cash on it to avoid the hikes, you can still find it at several different retailers.
There's also a "Used - Like New" option at Amazon for $712.18 right now - at least while stock lasts.
Save $50 on PlayStation Portal
Sony's PlayStation Portal is the last of the hardware getting an increase in price. You can currently secure the streaming remote player for $199.99 at most retailers, with the price going up to $249.99 in the coming days.
Otherwise, I'd also recommend checking out the "Certified Refurbished" options at PlayStation Direct as well, which offer another cheaper avenue to buying the console, and avoiding the new price increase.
Sony last hiked the price of PS5 in the US in August last year, when it confirmed $50 price rises. The base PS5 is now a whopping $100 more expensive, while the PS5 Digital Edition is also $100 more. The PS5 Pro, meanwhile, has gone up an eye-watering $150.
Many of us will now be concerned about how much longer Nintendo can hold out before it inevitably ups the price of its Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Save $200 on PS5 Fortnite Flowering Chaos Bundle

The best deal possible right now is absolutely on the PS5 Fornite Bundles that first popped up at the end of last year.
Compared to the new $649.99 pricing from April 2 onwards, you're saving $200 in total, which somehow now feels like a tremendous deal, despite it being because of an eye-watering price hike.
If you'd prefer the all-digital version of the console, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition bundle is also available from select retailers for $399.
This comes with the same items and features as the standard PS5, but without the disc drive. Note, that we're already seeing these bundles sell out fast at online retailers, so you may want to snap one up ASAP to avoid disappointment.
